Google Adsense - Referrals 2.0
In the past Google referrals was limited to only Google products. These included such things as the Google Pack, Google Toolbar with Mozilla Firefox, Picaso, etc. You get the idea, all Google products. Google has just recently added a slew of new products you can now use as referrals. In most cases they appear to look similar (or at least that option is available) to the Adsense for content ads, which is by far the most popular of the Google ad formats. There are some distinct differences with the new multitude of referal products than with traditional Adsense for content. Although they can appear similar, with Adsense for content you cannot control what ads are served and what the payout is for each click. Adsense for content randomly inserts ads based on content. There are methods one can implement to get better targeted adds, but that’s another discussion. With the new Google referral ads you get the best of both worlds, you get the traditional look and style of the Google ads for content with the control over exactly whose ads or products are being displayed, along with knowing how much you will receive for each click or action. The other important thing to mention about the referrals, however, they are not always payable per click, just as the original Google Referal worked. The original Google Referrals paid when someone clicked on the referral link then actually downloaded the product successfully. The new Google referals are similar in that an auto insurance referal would only pay when the link was clicked and a insurance quote was filled out. I am not sure how well these will do given that an additional action may be required other than just getting paid per click. Below is a list of all the categories Google recently added in addition to the original Google Products Referals:
